The Government College Umuahia was founded by Reverend Robert Fisher on January 29, 1929 when he opened the gates of the school to 25 students drawn from all parts of Nigeria and West Africa, but with catchment in Eastern Nigeria, and the Southern Cameroons.

The countdown has truly begun!
On behalf of the Executive Committee of GCUOBA UK & Eire and the 2026 Convention Planning Committee, it gives me immense pleasure to invite every Old Boy, our Young Girls, families, friends, and well-wishers to our 2026 Convention and Gala Night on Saturday, 19th September 2026 at the Sheraton Heathrow Hotel, West Drayton, UB7 0HJ.
This Convention is far more than a reunion. It is an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, forge new relationships, celebrate our shared heritage, and engage in meaningful discussions on the issues shaping the future of Government College Umuahia and our Global Association.
